Od wschodu Sajno \u0142\u0105czy si\u0119 przesmykiem z jeziorkiem Sajenek i dalej z niewielkim stawem Sajenek. W p\u00f3\u0142nocnej cz\u0119\u015bci jeziora ma uj\u015bcie Kana\u0142 Bystry, kt\u00f3ry \u0142\u0105czy jezioro z rzek\u0105 Nett\u0105 w Augustowie.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Maksymalna g\u0142\u0119boko\u015b\u0107 to 27 m. Nazwa jeziora wywodzi si\u0119 prawdopodobnie z ja\u0107wieskiego s\u0142owa\u00a0<i>soia<\/i>, oznaczaj\u0105cego\u00a0<i>rzek\u0119, nurt rzeczny<\/i>\u00a0(przez \u015brodek jeziora przebiega silny nurt). Jezioro obj\u0119te jest stref\u0105 ciszy. Na po\u0142udniu po\u0142\u0105czone jest z jeziorem\u00a0Necko. Linia brzegowa jest rozwini\u0119ta. Brzegi s\u0105 wysokie, w 100% poro\u015bni\u0119te lasem. Dno jest s\u0142abo zr\u00f3\u017cnicowane. Najg\u0142\u0119bszy punkt (10,5 m) znajduje si\u0119 w \u015brodkowej cz\u0119\u015bci jeziora. Linia brzegowa jest dobrze rozwini\u0119ta z licznymi zatokami (Orzech\u00f3wka, Tartaczna, Wierszowiec) i p\u00f3\u0142wyspami (Pie\u0144, D\u0105bek, Lisi Ogon). Brzegi s\u0105 w wi\u0119kszo\u015bci wysokie i suche, poro\u015bni\u0119te lasem sosnowym. Na jeziorze znajduj\u0105 si\u0119 wyspy.
